CELEBRATING NATIONAL CONVEYANCING WEEK WITH PCS LEGAL: MORE THAN JUST CONVEYANCING & A Q&A WITH STUART FORSDIKE

National Conveyancing Week (17-21 March 2025) is a time to recognise the hard work, dedication, and expertise of conveyancers across the UK. At PCS Legal, we are proud to be part of an industry that plays a crucial role in helping individuals and families achieve their homeownership dreams. This year, we are celebrating by highlighting the importance of choosing the right conveyancer, showcasing how PCS Legal goes beyond traditional conveyancing, and appreciating the dedication of our incredible team.

How we’re celebrating National Conveyancing Week

At PCS Legal, we recognise that our team is at the heart of everything we do. To show our appreciation during National Conveyancing Week, we are treating our staff to a range of activities and perks, including free food, a fun office quiz, and a dress-down day. These celebrations are our way of saying thank you to the dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to guide our clients through the home-moving process.

While our directors are incredibly busy at the moment due to high demand, we still want to share insights into what it’s like to be a conveyancer and the rewarding aspects of this career. From the challenges of navigating complex transactions to the satisfaction of helping clients complete on their dream homes, conveyancing is a role that requires expertise, commitment, and a strong client-focused approach.

Choosing the right conveyancer: Why does it matter?

When buying or selling a home, selecting the right conveyancer is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. A skilled and experienced conveyancer ensures that your transaction runs smoothly, minimising delays and avoiding potential legal pitfalls. But at PCS Legal, we believe conveyancing is about more than just paperwork and legal processes, it is about providing a seamless, stress-free experience that supports homeowners every step of the way.

A holistic approach

At PCS Legal, we take pride in offering more than just conveyancing services. We understand that moving home is a significant milestone, often accompanied by a mix of excitement and stress. That’s why we provide a holistic service that guides homeowners through the entire moving process.

We offer a full range of property services, including auction conveyancing, help to buy assistance, remortgaging, transfer of equity, lease extensions, and shared ownership transactions. These services ensure that whether you are buying, selling, or refinancing, you have expert legal guidance every step of the way.

In addition to property-related legal services, we also provide personal legal services such as will writing, power of attorney, probate, and estate planning. These services help ensure that our clients’ legal affairs are in order, giving them peace of mind for the future. Our commitment to offering these additional services means that we don’t just handle transactions, we build long-term relationships with our clients, supporting them beyond the immediate process of buying or selling a home.

A Q&A with our Founding Partner Stuart Forsdike

What’s the most surprising thing about being a conveyancer?

“One of the most surprising things about being a conveyancer is just how much problem-solving is involved. Every property transaction is unique, and while some can be straightforward, others present unexpected challenges. There could be hidden issues with the title, last-minute changes from the buyer or seller, or even delays in the chain. No two days are the same, and no home buyer or seller is the same, they each come with their own unique set of circumstances and experience of the process so we have to be ready to adapt in order to guide our clients every step of the way. Staying proactive is key. Despite the challenges, finding solutions and helping clients achieve their property goals is incredibly rewarding.  We receive numerous of thank you letters/emails after transactions complete and it makes any challenges we have faced worthwhile.”

What’s the most rewarding part of being a conveyancer?

“The most rewarding part is undoubtedly seeing the joy and relief on a client’s face when their transaction is completed. People underestimate how taxing moving house can be, mentally, physically, and financially! Buying or selling a home is a huge milestone in life, and we get to play a crucial role in making that process as smooth as possible. Whether it’s helping a first-time buyer navigate the legalities or assisting a family in securing their dream home, knowing that we’ve helped someone move forward with their future is very rewarding.”

How do you manage a work-life balance in conveyancing?

“Conveyancing is a fast-paced industry, and it’s easy to get caught up in the workload. Managing a work-life balance requires strong time management and the ability to switch off when needed. At PCS Legal, we have a fantastic team that supports one another, which helps lighten the load during busy periods. Taking breaks, staying organised, and ensuring that time outside of work is truly disconnected from emails and transactions is essential for maintaining well-being in such a demanding role.  We also organise lots of social events as a company to ensure everyone has a bit of downtime which is so important to ensuring everyone is well rested and energised for those really busy days. “

What advice would you give to someone thinking about a career in conveyancing?

“For anyone considering a career in conveyancing, I’d say be prepared to learn constantly…probably for the rest of your career.  The legal landscape is always evolving, and staying up to date with new regulations and procedures is vital, but it is also what makes it interesting and what makes you good at your job. It’s a career that requires patience, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. However, if you enjoy problem-solving and working in a role where no two days are the same, it’s an incredibly fulfilling profession, especially if you work for PCS Legal, we have lots of fun along the way, I promise. The sense of achievement that comes from successfully navigating a complex transaction is second to none.

We’re passionate about the work we do and the impact it has on people’s lives. If you’re interested in joining the profession, there’s no better time to start.”
